The following motion was unanimously carried', That this meeting considers, notwitlistanding the enthusiasm of the volunteers, the " voluntary system does not provide adequate defence, and therefore ask Government to introduce a system of^ universal training of the young men of the country. A committee of women was set up to co-operate with the men's committee on the matter.
