DANNEVIRKE THII^DS v. WOOD- ■ ■■ VILLE THIRDS. The opening game to-drfy ..was the match between the above tea.s:.s on the Carrying Company's padtlrHv, and contrary to expectation pn.ved an easy Avin for the Greens (Danuc .irke). The opening spell was fai/ly oven, and Woodville backs, with 'their safe kicking, held the Dannevirke pack safe. In the second half the Woodville forwards went to pieces, arid the Greens forced repeatedly, and had it not been for over eagerness on their part the score would have been .much larger. Tries' were scored by Cantwell and Shuttleworth, the latter of which was converted by Taylor. Shortly before time, Allardice dropped an easy goal, and the game ended: Dannevirke 12, Woodville 0. Mr Carston refereed, and had occasion during the game to 'order three Woodville players oft" the field. EXCELSIOR JUNIORS v. AOTEA JUNIORS. This game . Avent by defarrit to Aotea, Excelsiors being unable to put a team in the field.
