District •Command, recalled-the Bffdrts he had made to impart to the; troops the results of his experience in rMancJiuria as attache with the Japanese Army, •during the Russo-Japanese-campaign. He said he had especially tried to influence the- cavalry against the peace practice of unreal tactics, and to en-courage-the artillery to perfect themselves in the use >of : concealed batteries so remarkably/ adopted by the Japanese. ' • General Hamilton continued that Tvhatever progress had been, realised was due to the sympathy of all rants with his underlying aim, namely, to " overcome uripreparedness and make for efficiency for war.
