ASSESSMENT COURT.
— - VALUATIONS ■ WITHDRAWN. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL, last night. Thfc sitting of the Assessment- Court en'dett rather abruptly today. Of ,+en objections heard on Monday eight were Unstained, and reductions made by ifo© court ,at the request of 'Ihe Govornment representatives. Tht» <-ourt considered to-day tlio valuation of several important Tay street /properties, and reductions were ordered. This indicated tl^a^^|B.;, the opinion of-the'court, the general level oi' tli-> valuations was too high, and that probably reductions would be made in most of the cases remaining. Mr Dugdale (valuer) stated that owiaig to the reductions made, lie would recommend revision, and asked for aji adjournment that he might comnnmicate with the Valuer-Gene-ral. If the court adjourned, he would ask his chief for a reconsid«ra.tion of the properties of all those who did not appear, as it i would be manifestly unfair to reduce the values of those who came forward and leave the properties of those who did not- come forward as they "were at present. Personally', he thought it not at. all likely that the roll would bo made satisfactory for this year. The court was accordingly adjourned n.m& die. ■
