Fleming, a saloon passenger from Lyltelton by the Maori, jumped overboard as the steamer was aproaching Well iiig ton wharf to-day. William George Lodder, engineer for the Gear Company, said, the braces at both ends of the building had been removed without his knowledge or instruction. If they had been left in position, they woxild have prevented the accident. Geo. Duncan, draughtsman and clerk of the works, thought tho accident was due to the removal of the braces. The inquest was further adjourned till Tuesday. WOODVILLE, Saturday. .Win. Logan, settler and member of the Woodville County Council, met with a serious accident some time yesterday. Ho was riding his horse over the back; portion': of his farm, which is rough country, when the horse fell over a cliff and broke his neck. Logan was knocked insensible by the fall, and May Out all night. He .was discovered by a couple of neighbors at about 10 this morning. It was then, discovered that Logan had his loft leg broken above the knee .'and blood was all over his body and face. He was immediately conveyed to the Pahiatua hospital, where the limb was set. Peter Jacobson,. one of the crew of the ship Triton, fell off the wharf on Saturday night. Two boys named Olsen and Roeneluser, aged 16 and 17, jumped to his rescue' Jacobsen was carried under the wharf, but the boys got him ashore ip. Sans an unconscious condition, and performed artificial respiration successfully. Jacobsen was removed to the .hospital. ....
