BARRY WANTS TO MEET ARNST.

T. • Blackstaffe, the wellknown sculler, has informed the Sportsman that if Arnst cares to visit England Barry can be matched to scull him on the^ Thames for the championship of the world. ' ARNST v. WEBB. MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER. Sir Joseph Ward sent the following message to Webb after the race: "After worthily upholding the championship ot the world as a sculler you have to-day, after a splendid race, had the laurels wrested from you by a great rower, but the eports- .; manlike manner in which you recognise the victory of your opponent adds j greatly to your,well-deserved reputa- h tion' as a true spo-rtsman."
