[press association.] DUNEDIN, last ai^.t. The recount of the votes cast In tho second ballot for Dunedm North has advanced another stage. Mr Ward, to whom Mr Widdowson, S.M. deputed the task of conducting the recount, presented the report to tho magistrate this afternoon. It is freely rumored that 17 ballot papers are missing, but those concerned in the re-count will not divulge information. Later. It is understood tliat tile Magisterial recount for Dunedin North favors Mr Barclay. In some manner a number of voting papers in favor of Mr Thomson have apparently * disappeared since the original count. DUNEDIN, to-day. Mr Widdowson reports lie is not • satisfied that all the voting papers for Dunedin North were placed, before him, and says he is unable consequently to complete the recount. The probabilities are that Mr Barclay Avill take action by election petition.
