NAPIER WOOL SALES. ANIMATED COMPETITION. - • [press association.] ■' NAPIER, to-day. The expectation* of improved prices at tho wool market were moro than realised at to-day's opening sale, tho prices reaching the record of two years ago. An aggregate of 6700 bales wero ofEdrod to an exceptionally largo attendance of buyers, and the sales throughout the morning were marked by keen animation, a, distinct feature being the ...active; competition, amongst the American operators. Up to noon the highest price realised was -^ijd for a sample of fine crossJared, but t^i'6j broker s^ confidently expect this to bo" beaten later in the day. The following is ihe range of jjirices during the morning sales: —" Fine crossbreds, super/ lOd to 122 d. Cross, medium, 8d to 9d: i .Crossbred, super, 8d to 10d. ; ' ! Crossbred, medium to inferior, s|d to Bd. ■■' ;■■ Prices wore up to 6d for good quality locks, and up to 2d to 3d for medium. _
