MR HUNTER AND THE PUBLICANS.

A CONTRADICTION. (To the Editor.) Sir, — I am informed that some irresponsible individuals are going round the "town showing some papers which they claim to bo authentic, to prove that Mr Hunter is contesting the election in the publican's" interest. If this is required to discredit Mr Hunter, it shows what straits the other side must be in. The electors of Dannevirke know Mr Hunter too well to be influenced by this sort of thing, and I invite the creatures who are concerned in it to come and show me one of these papers, and I will give them an opportunity of proving their statements. I pity Mr Hall if these are his friends. — I am, etc., D. McINTYRE.
