HUTT MUNICIPAL EXCITEMENT.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, to-day. >- There is iniich'" feeling at Lower Hiitt consequent upon the decision of the Borough Council to erect gasworks and break from Petone, an adjoining borough, which has municipal gasworks. The Hutt Council does not intend to take a poll of the ratepayers, many of whom strongly oppose the Council's project. A meeting of ratepayers last week passed a resolution of protest. The Council last night decided to call a meeting of the public to explain the whole situation. A motion that the whole Council should resign was rejected.
