His services had been, most valuable .when they first went in for a school, and when tliey changed the school to a high school his services were invaluable. He had finished every work of a difficult, nature, and had cleared up everything injconnection with the contract for the erection of the school. He thought that the resignation should be received with deep regret. Mr Bain emphasised the Rev. . Grant's remarks, and paid a high tribute to the energetic manner ,'n which Mr Patterson always worked in the interest of the school from its inception. . - The motion was carried, a copy to be forwarded to Mr Patterson, x The Rev. Grant (secretary) said that he had notified the Board of the resignation. — Action endorsed. It was decided to elect a chairman at the next* meeting.-

There were two cases of scarlet fever duf'-' ing the term, but otherwise the health of the pupils had been good. The school work has gone on in a satisfactory manner ; one and all of the staff have worked, most energetically and harmoniously. I beg to point out, however, that considering the number on the roll, and the range of work which it is necessary to take np, an additional male teacher- is required on the staff. -The caretaker has performed his cmties in a very satisfactory manner. . I beg to suggest that in order to prevent draughts the holes cut to admit the hot water pipes be closed.: I am pleased to draw your attention to the changes made by the Education Dexiartme'nt in the classification of the two, members of your staff: Miss Barr has had her classification raised to A3, and I have had mine raised to Al. The third term has opened with a roll number of 82; one girl lias left and one boy has been admitted. I again respectfully suggest that Miss Gibson's salary be increased.

Dr Macallan moved and Mr Bain seconded that the Board congratulate the two teachers on their higher classification.

The Chairman remarked that the principal was classified as high as it was possible to be classed.

Mr Bain said that they should not underpay their teachers.

Mr Wright said that increase should be granted if the funds would allow it.

The Chairman: "The funds wTi allow i^" It was generally recogmsed that her salary is a low one.
