SECOND EDITION. RAILWAY SERVANTS.

* rUKSKXT AN ADDRESS TO THE PREMIER. [I'ItKSS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Yesterday. Sir Joseph Ward, Prime Minister, was waited upon at his residence in Wellington yesterday evening by delegates from the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and presented with an address on behalf of the members. The address is in album form, in red morocco with heliotrope mountings, aud is handsomely illustrated, and embroidered with kowhai flowers and views of New Zealand scenery. It states that the members of the society wish to convey their high appreciation of the many and valued concessions which Sir Joseph Ward has secured for the service during the. periods he has boon Ministerial head of the department. "By resolution of the society," says the address, "it has boon resolved to present to you this address in appreciation of your successful efforts in establishing the Government Railways Superannuation Fund, the raising of the standard of wage, the introduction of tho 48 hours week for the staff, and the many other concessions which the service now enjoys. The rapid expension of the service during the past few years has imposed upon us more arduous duties and responsibilities, but it has been to us a matter of great congratulation in feeling that you have ever extended to the staff a kindly and considerate feeling, which is deeply appreciated. We also desire to congratulate you upon your accession to tho Premiership, and trust that you may be spared many years in which to continue your good work in the interests of the Dominion and its people."
