'I lie Commissioner ol Crown Lands forwarded approved schedule for expenditure of accrued thirds and fourths. — Received. Tlie 'Waipawa District Hospital asked for their quarter's levy.—Attended io. -Mr 11. Ilalleit offered his services for engineering surveys. — Received. -Air li. G. Crosse drew attention to the state of the swing bridge across Akitio river near .Rabbit line. — It was lesolved on the motion of the chairman and Cr J)r Riddell to have the bridge a i tended to as soon as the timber is available, and in tho meantime notice is to be placed on the bridge as being unsafe for traffic. Mr Crosse also recommended thai Weber and Waipawa counties jointly erect a water trough for use of travelling stock, near Mr Cunimingham's gate, at what is known as "the. Springs." The clerk was instructed on the motion of the chairman and Cr Armstrong to ask tlie Waipawa county whether they are willing to pay half the cost. The secretary of the Auctioneers" .Association. Dannevirke, stated that it was. not tin* intention of the Association to vetMwstvnet sale, yards nl Weber of iron. aud consequently could not rolie\e the council of rails. Received. Tho Audit Inspector asked for copies of special orders made, under section 5, sub-section 1. Local Rodios Loans Act, 1002, authorising payment of interest out of general funds on loans raised over the whole district. Tlie clerk stated that there was no record of orders having been made, and that special rates had never been collected. Cr Armstrong moved that a special order be made as required by Act. — Seconded by the Chairman and carried. Mr J. Rice applied for permission to graze small slock on Cemetery reserve. — 0 ranted. It was moved by the Chairman, and seconded by Cr Speedy that a separate bank account he opened for cemetery funds, and thus avoid annual tag 0)i accounts. — Carried. Cr Armstrong thought all the property north of the Akitio river should be included in the Weber County, as the outlet for settlers concerned was by AA'ebcr County roads, and moved that an opinion be obtained from the Councils solicitor as to the necessary steps to be taken. The chairman moved that tbe sum of 19s 2d charged in excess on Waione reserves be written off. — Seconded by Cr Armstrong:, and carried. The overseer's report was then read as follow*: — A. Carmichael is making good progress with his contract. A. Moll a rdy will soon finish his wood cutting contract. There is about 1700 cubic yards of papa burnt ready to be carted on to the main road any time. j T don't think it is advisable to put | the burnt papa on the voad until such i time as most of tlie sheep driving I traffic is over. A fierce fire sprung up on the 20th of the month, which endangered several of the bridges in the- county, particularly the Akitio. Tahuokaretu, AA'aihi, Table stream, and others. However, we were successful in saving them all. As there are throe Government grants before you which require to be dealt with •it this meeting. I would surest that the amounts bo spent on the following works — namely. £100 for tho main road, to he spent on making deviation to tho Waipatiki bridge, metalling same, also metalling approaches to the Kereru bridge, total length about 13 chains. The grant for the AA'aiono Road is £ for £ grant. I would recommend that the money be spent on widening and metalling this road iu the several places where required. No doubt you are already aware of tho fact that this road is dangerously narrow and requires widening. There is a grant of £250 £ for £ for the Esdale. Road. I would recommend that this bo spent on metalling the following sections of the. above road : First section to commence at Rabbit gate at peg (), and terminate at peg 23, a distance of 23 chains. Second section to commence at peg 81. and terminate at peg 89, a distance of 8 chains. Third section to commence at peg 123 and terminate at peg IG3. a distance of 10 chains. Fourth section on northern side of Mr McLean's gate, a distance of 13 chains. Total distance proposed to bo metalled, 84 chains. Oporao Road: That part of this road that lies- between the. bridge at the junction of the Limestone Road and the hill on the north side of W. Wylio's homestead, a distance of 40 chains, was in an almost impassable state during tho winter months: also that part of tho Tahuokarrtu Road known as the Last Rend ; approximate distance, 20 chains. Tho only romeody for the above is to metal them. The Chairman did not think it advisable to put papa burnt by the Council on the roads at present. Cr Jensen was of opinion that it should not be left too late, and on Dr Riddell's suggestion it was decided not to deliver it on the road until after AA'oodbank stock sale. The overseer's recommendation re grant of £100 for the main road and £]00 pound for pound for river road were adopted. Cr .Jensen considered that £200 (£ for £) for the Ksdsile Road was rather large for the Council to contribute £ for £. Cr Merrick moved that the overseer's recommendation be adopted. - Seconded by Cr Armstrong. — Carried. it lieing understood tbat onlv CIOO would be spent <m Esdulo Road this, year. The overseer's suggestions re Oporao and Tahuokaretu roads tvero approved on tho motion of the Chairman and Cr Speedy. Cr Armstrong said he had been asked to point out a drop in the road near Berntsen's, and tho rough state of the road in the vicinity. Tin* first matter is to bo attended to by the over seer. Cr Speedy said ho thought that the pipes at Poole's should be put in at

01 ir,.. —Overseer to attend to the matter. Mi; Taylor White attended tlie nu'ci in--, and produced a letter from the Land Hoard relative to purchase oi old road umh-r section 117 of the L»nd Act. 18!)i'. }[,• "White said he under- wiod -when lie consented to a clfvi.u inn of the road through his pl;i<-<- In- was given tlie old road in i-xehfui^.., hut jimr, iilicn ho desired <o acquire the freehold ho found he would have to pay for tho old road also. — The clerk was instructed to lay the whole position before the .solicitor and communicate with Mr White later. The clerk applied for a fortnight's holiday. — Cranicd. Cr Armstrong and the Chairman stated that they were interviewed by the ralihit inspector re a slight alteration in Angora Boad, where it was proposed to _ erect a. gate iu lieu of the one i:i its present position, and gave the inspector to understand that the necessary work would be done. — Action endorsed. It was moved by Cr .Jensen and seconded by ihe Chairman that tenders returnable in a fortnight he called for required work on Oproae and Tahuokaretu Roads. — Carried.
