The matter was tlitai referred:. to a Drill Committee, which now brought down a report as follows: — "The committee has considered the memorandum from tlie Council of Defence, and is not prepared to recommend that efficiency in military drill and rifle-shooting bo accepted as excusing a candidate from any subject in the B.A. examination. If, however, a practical 'scheme can be devised under which the University can in any way promote efficiency iii military subjects, the committee, thinks that the Senate should give, it favorable consideration. To this end, the committee suggests that the: Chancellor -.should confer with tbe Council of Defence and bring the matter up for consideration at tho next meeting of the Senate." The report was adopted without discussion.
