A Tairua Press Association mesage states that the steamer Onslow visited the scene of the wreck of the scow Surprise again on Thursday. Constable Brown and party searched the beaches, but could find no bodies. They secured a flag and some broken life-buoys and the name board. The steamer called at Ohui and brought Harry Jackson, the sole survivor, to Tairua. He is still weak. As show- | ing the fury of the storm, dozens of crayfish and dead lish were thrown upon the beach, also tons of seaweed. A human heing nearly a foot smaller than the famous Tom Thumb is the latest curiosity at Glasgow. This is Harold Pyott, who, at the age of 20 is only 23in high. Harold was born in tlie Cheshire town of Stockport. At first/sight he does not seem to be as old as 20 (says an English paper). A double set of teeth, dark in color, and some of which were broken, set all doubts at rest regarding his age, and did not require the production of his birth certificate. He would not take up much standing room in a crowd. As a matter of fact, he will stand very comfortably on the palm of a visitor's hand, and the visitor will not be overburdened. The little wonder bas never been ill in his life, though his frailty makes thi.-, statement appear surprising. He is, indeed, a tender little creature, whose continued existence is marvellous.
