THE LATE MR SEDDON.
Yesterday's Post contained the following: — : Twelve "months ago to-day the Rt. Hon. R. J. Seddon died on the Osi westry Grange in the Tasman Sea. Yesterday morning members of the Ministry visited the tomb, and plac- j ed a wreath there, carrying the following verse : — "His memory long Avill live alone In all our hearts as mounful light That broods above the fallen sun, And dwells in heaven half the night." ! During the day a good number of people climbed the hill in the Sydney street cemetery, and others went there to-day. At noon the Hon. T. Iv. Macdonald (chairman of the Wellington Seddon Memorial Committee) and other members of this organisation met at the grave-side, and fresh wreaths were put on the steps and crowns of the masonry. Flowers had also been arrayed inside tlio vault, which was opened for a few minutes. There were no panegyrics or orations of any kind. The commemorative ceremony passed very quietly and unimpressively. One of the score of gentlemen present remarked that it was a pity that the public interest had not been worked up a little more -diligently. Prominent among the tloral emblems was a helm, a sharp reminder of the dead chief of the ship of State. Among the associations that sent wreaths were the Seddon Memorial Committee of Wellington and Westland, the Lancashire Society, and the Wellington West Coasters' Association. Private persons also sent a number of tributes.
