SUPREME COURT.

[Pkess Association.] PALMERSTON N,, June 11. TlKrsitiings of the Supreme Court opened this morning, before Mr Justice Cooper, and true "bills were found against Richard Daly, bigamy, F. Cross and B. Morse, theft from a dwelling:,' L. M. Murray, cattle stealing; Albert Lovelock, forgery. The latter pleaded guilty, and received two years',- and a similar sentence was imposed on Frederick Cross for theft from a 'dwelling: Morse was remanded for the report of the probation officer. The prosecution in the bigamy case broke down very unexpectedly at the Supreme Court this morning. The first witness for the Crown produced a copy of the certificate of accused s former marriage, in 1895 T to which Mr Innes, counsel for the defence, objected, pointing out that accused. Daly, was referred to as Richard" and "Robert" Daly in the same certificate. His Honor, after scrutinising the certificate, remarked that it was a strange blunder and commented xipon the gross carelessness of some official, wffich led £ the breakdown of the prosecution. The Crown Prosecutor intimated that lie could go ho further in the case, and his Honor directed the jury to acquit the accused, which- was done, and Daly was discharged.
