Mr Barnett Bauer, the well-known diamond merchant, was discovered in liis office in the Modern Chambers, Collins street, last evening, with, his skull fractured in several places. Ho died while being removed to the hospital. Though there were no signs of a struggle, he had evidently been brutally murdered. The affair is a complete mystery. A friend who saw Mr Bauer ten minutes before the body was discovered found the door of the office locked. No one in the building heard any suspicious sounds.
