<$. COMPLIMENTARY REMARKS JJY MR JUSTICE COOPER. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 10. The Hon. Dr Findlay, Mr M. Chapman, and Mr 11. I). Bell, who have been appointed Kind's Counsel, took the forma! oath at the Supreme Court to-day. Mr Justice Cooper, in a few remarks, said the Bar in New Zealand had been distinguished for a great number of years for the learning, ability iind high sense of honor whicli was one of the traditions of the English bar. The occasion was one to be fairly termed historic. The gentlemen who had just taken the oath were three of the most distinguished leaders of the profession, and 1 regretted that Mr C. P. Skerrett, who was also held in the highest lespeet, was not present to take tbe • ath. He believed that throughout the eolonv the appointments would be received with satisfaction hy members oi' ibo Bar, bj r the solicitors, and by the general public. This occasion, .which brought the New Zealand bar on a level with the English bar. marked the attainment of a status for Avhich this country had been waiting for many years.
