WHETUKURA.

♦ (From a correspondent.) It is said that the matter of. the £10 8s raised for the abandoned, butter factory, which has been agitating local politics so long in Waikopiro, has at last been settled. Some, I understand, wished to divide the money among themselves, but could not get hold of it; a few wished that it should go to some local object or other. Round this discussion heated passions have for months waxed and waned till we had grave fears for the sanity of some tur-r bulent spirits, who were bent on gettiDg the money for themselves. However, a settlement appears now to have been made. The Whetukura Domain Board having executed au indemnity Mr War^ mington has given the money to them for planting and other improvements instead of dealing with it as he advertised in your paper of 7th May.
