APPOINTMENTS OF TEACHERS.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. Mr Field, M.H.E., speaking at Levin last night, suggested there -was a flaw in the Education Act of last session, and by it Education Boards were justified in their action with regard to appointments of teachers. He said it was not clear that it was obligatory that Boards should submit-six names to committees, and both the Wellington and Wanganui Boards were making appointments under the old system. The Premier interjected : "As Minister for^ Education I shall refrain from allowing salaries to be paid in case of any appointments so made."
