The damage is .estimated at one million francs, and the opening has been delayed until 1907. Sydney, January 6. The naval authorities have been advised that the third-class cruiser Prometheus replaces the Pylades on the Australian station. She is expected in Sydney at the end of March. WAvSHington, Jan. 6. In the merchant marine report, provision is made that on the contemplated new steamship linos, mails will be carried free, provided oue-sixth of the crews are Americans.
