Abraham and Williams' first sale of the New Year was held at Palmerston on Thursday,' the sth inst, when an average yarding came forward. There was a good attendance and prices showed an advance on those ruling before the holidays. Competition was brisk from start to finish, and a total clearance was made in all departments. Light fat bullocks £6 2s, fat cows £4 17s, forward bullocks £5 9s 6d, 2 year heifers £3 3s to £3 13s, 18 mos cattle £2 10s to £2 18s 6d, springing heiters £4 to .£4 ss, springing cows £5 to £7 2s 6d, weaners 20s to 31s 6d, small weaners 15s to 18s, store cows £2 3s to J63, cows and calves JB3 10s to .£3 16s. Abraham and Williams reports for their Dannevirke sale as follows: — For our first sale of the year, our entry was confined to cattle, of which there was a fair yarding. A good demand was exhibited for all classes and late prices fully maintained. .We practically cleared the yeard at quotations. ' . Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd, held their usual fortnightly sale in their Dannevirke yards yesterday, when they offered a fair yarding of cattle to a good attendance of the public, but buyers were scarce.
