The Mangatera Hotel.
Mr Charles Melville licensee of the Mangatera Hotel, has recently had improvetneuts effected to that hotel which should be appreciated by the travelling public and lodgers. Tho principal improvement is in regard to the drainage. A complete system of drainage has now been instituted and this will do away with tbe old complaint regarding tbe refuse water flowing into High^fcjtreet. The drain pipes connect with the wash-house, kitchen, bath rooms, lavatory, etc., and all lead to a cess pit some distance from the building and in that tbe refuse water is effectively disposed of. In addition to the sanitary improvements. Mr Melville has had constructed a lavatory in a convenient position. At a suitable distance from tbe main building, increased accommodation is provided in the shape of a pantry (properly ventilated), wellequipped laundry, wash-bouse, store rooms, etc. The work which has been carried out greatly improves the premises and should add to the popularity of the hotel. TJhe whole of the work, including; the plumbing, has been efficiently carriedout by Messrs Clayton Bros. Ai Mr Melville is determined to run bis house on up-to-date lines and. keeps nothing but the best wines, ales and spirits, he is bound to secure a share of public support.
