Don Walker, the Victorian (oyds), went in pursuit, and made a great effort to overtake him, but the rapid American passed the post 15yds ahead, Thorne, a Victorian (80 yards), a couple of yards away, third ; Forbes was fourth. Time, lmin 53 2-5 sec. The Five Miles Scratch resulted in a win for Chalmers of New Zealand ; Megson, N.S.W., second ; Forbes, New Zealand (10yds), third. Major Taylor fell in the half mile race, and was slightly damaged. Cameron, the Victorian, won.
