Dear Sir, — I HAVE to acknowledge the rereceipt of a cheque for j£l37 los 7d, being balance payable under policy No- 54,118 on the life of my son, Alfred Andresen Friis, and I desire to thank the Department for its promptitude in paying the claim. I also wish to place on record the fact that the policy, which wns taken out in June, 1886, and on which preI mi urns ceased to be paid in 1894, was, I notwithstanding, kept alive by the I Department's liberal system of surrender value until the date of my son's death last month. The sum assured, £200, *plus bonuses £38 18s. less arrears of premium, has, therefore, been paid to me quite unexpectedly, as I thought that the policy had lapsed long ago. Such liberality on the part of the Government Insurance Department requires no further comment. — Yours faithfully, J. P. A. FRIIS. Insure now as this is bonus year J. H.
