An attempt to recommit the United States Electric Railways Bill baa failed.
The Right Hon C. T. Ritchie defeated the Right Hon. H. R. Asquith for the Rectorship of the Aberdeen Uni venity by a majority of 28. . October 31.
Mr Hugh Watt, an ex-member of the House of Commons, has recovered £5,000 damages against Lady Violet Beauchamp, who in a letter to Mrs Watt described the plaintiff as a real devilcriminal in human form.
In the House of Commons Reveral pages of amendments to the Education Bill were closured and negatived. In a tram car accident at Chatham two persoas wera killed, and 51 mechanics were injured.

Owing to the scarcity and dearnesg of fodder and meat, the directors of the Zoo are offering their surplus animals and birds for sale, including three lions, and three leopards at /15 each ; Zebu bulls at £25 per pair, while a pair of ostriches, valued at a £100, are also offered.
The police to-night raided a number of tote shops, where betting was in f nil swing, and made 68 arrests.
