Dannevirke, 2nd August, 1902. The Secretary, Government Insurance Department, Wellington. Dear Sir,— I HAVE to acknowledge the rereceipt of a cheque for 15s 7d, being balance payable under policy No. 54,118 oo the life of my son, Alfred Andresen Friis, and I desire' to thank the Department for its promptitude in paying the claim. I also wish to place on record the fact that the policy, which was taken out in June, 1886, and on which premiums ceased to be paid in 1894, was, notwithstanding, kspt alive by the Department's libei&l* system of surrender value until the date of my son's death last month. Tbe sum assured, £200, plus bonuses £38 18s, less arrears of premium, bas, therefore, been paid to me quite unexpectedly, as I thought that the policy had lapsed long ago. Such liberality ou the part of the Government Insurance Department requires no further comment.— Yours faithfully, J. P. A. FRIIS. Insure now as this is bonus year |J. H.
