Police Court.

At . the Police Court this morning, before Messrs W. Rose and J. Drummond, J's.P., Rangi Nifcora was charged with unlawfully assaulting Arnold Haste at the Masonic Hotel last nighc about eight o'clock. Complainant deposed that he was sit' ting on a form in the passage of the Masonic Hotel when accused struck him deliberately in the eye aud ou the cheek, inflicting a nasty wound. Evidence for the prosecution was also given by G. Staiurod, J. Kingswell and J. Mitchell, jnr. The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was fined the sum of £5 with costs, but of whioh £2 10s will go to tho complainant for medical ex« penses ; in default, two months' imprisonment in Napier gaol with hard labour. ; .
