(Per Press Association.) Napier, This day. Sydney Smith, aged about 45 years, died in the hospital yesterday as the result of severe burns. Leceased was found lying on a bed in his whar© in an unconscious state, his head . and face being badly burned. Hawera, This day. An old man named Leys, found unconscious in the bush near Opunake a few days ago, has since died. Hokitika, Sept. 23. Obituary — Joseph Churches, % very old resident, formerly in business as a merchant, and supsequently proprietor of the Empire hotel. Wairoa, This day. Thomas Bailey, captaiu of the cutter Eleanor, was found dead in bis cabin yesterday. WestpOßT, This day. Mabel Ralph, aged five, died suddenly atDenuistou, through drinking a bottle of cough mixture. Christchurch, This day. Rudolph Kelly, aged 4, died in tho hospital through burns caused by his night-dress catching fire yesterday.
