Norsewood Social Club

The first public meeting of the above was held in the Village Hall on Friday evening, there being a large attendance of members and visitors. Mr J. D. Watson, M. A., President of the club, explained the objects of the social, utter which dO persons handed in their names as members The byelaws drawn up by the sub-co^mmittee were submitted to the meeting and adopted. Thirteen tables of progressive euclire, piug pong, whiat, dominoes, draughts, ludo, quoit 3, etc , wer* set going, and at intervals during the games songs were given by Mi6s Tucker, and Messrs Parsons, H. Collius and Garry, and a duet by Misses E. Martin and Randerson, the accompauimeuts beiug played by Mrs Parsons and Miss M. A. King. Miss Gollau gained the prize for progressive euchre, 'vinning 13 games, Mr D. H. Grant coming in for the other prize with 5 wins. Abundance of excellent refreshments werehauded round aud done full justice to. Mr Parsons gave some phonograph selections which were much appreciated. The whole affair was pronounced a gr<tDd success, and many were the appreciative remarks made to the committee on their management. Under the auspices of this club a dramatic section and a gymnastic section have been formed.

The literary and debating subjects fur tho session include a Shakespeare evening, papers oa the life and moral i ifluence of Hall Came as a novelist, a Parliamentary, and a mock trial jby jury. The next meeting is to be held ou May 9, when a discussion of great ocul interest is promised.
