Loxdon, Jan. 24. Scan-official Continental newspapers are . trying to discredit Viscount Ci-anborne's statement regarding Britain's attitude in connection ivith the Spanish - American war.
American newspapers acknowledge EiuUrv.l as America's he<t friend in national emergency. Mr Obauncey Depew srates that no alliance existed with Britain, but there was an understanding that in the event of trouble America would not aid England's enemies in any act in any part of the world.
