Sire, Awa Moa; dam, Cairngorm. Awa Moa was bred at Awa Moa (and is half brother to Accountant) by that far famed Clydesdale entire Young Banker (1. N.Z.5.8.), whose stock have Jtaken the highest honors wherever exhibited, both in New Zealand and Australia. His dam Lena Brown (11, N.Z.5.8.) was by that celebrated horse luck's All (510 Clydesdale S. Book) champion, of Scotland ou several occasions. The dam of Lena Brown, Jessie Brown, was imported to New Zealand by the Hon. M. Holmes, and was by Old Times (579), first prize at Glasgow, 1872, from a mare by Lochfergus Champion (449) Jessie Brown was also the dam of the celebrated mare Nancy Brown, winner of eight first prizes at Oamaru, Christchurch, and Dunedin shows. Awa Moa himself took first prize as a yearling at Oamaru, Timaru, Christchurch, and Dunedin in 1881. First as a two-year-old at Christchurch, and first and Champion at Oamaru as a three-year-old. Cairng'onr" took 3rd prize at Oamaru in 1883 as a two-year-old, and second at Christchurch the same year, Btanding firsb at Oamaru a 9 a 3-year old is 1884. She is by Young Banker, dam the celebrated Lass-o'-Gowrie, the dam of Sir Arthur Gordon, sold for 500 guineas ; Regent sold for export as a two-year-old at 350 guineas, and several other prize-takers wheie shown. It is impossible to obtain a horse better bred than Black Diamond. Third as a two-year-old at Oamaru, and second to Waverley in 1892.
