Sweet Carrie leedß the summer chioks And ducklings round about tho farm ; With eager eyes they watoh her form, Nor dream that she wiU seek their harm, Her cheery faoe is all aglow, When from her hand their food they take ; Sho loves the daily morning task, And whispers, " 'Tis for Jesus' sake." When winter's frost is in the air, And winter's snow is all around, She daily takes the crumbled bread And soatters it upon the ground. Ancl when the hungry birds draw near. And at tho siyht sweet music make, Sweet Carrie's face is full of glee ; She loves them aU " for Jesus' sake." About ths house, from morn till night, Her little feet are never still ; With busy hands and happy heart She seeks to do hor mother's will. Should sho her mother e'er displease, Her tears would flow, her heart would break ; Her every action still is done In love's sweet way "for Jesus' sake." We all may here a lesson lear&, The youngest and the oldest too ; In all our aots, and thoughts, and words, Our great Creator's will to do ; He watches with a father's care, His love time caunot move nor shake ; His arms shall ever us enfold And guard us still *• for Jesus' sake." —"Child's Companion."
