" You don't buy any more flowera now ?' said the florist. "No," was the response, given goodnaturedly, thousrh it was brief. " And it used to be, a year ago or moro, that roses and violets and carnations and all sorts wero a crout attraction to you ?" " Yes ; I had a sweetheart theu," and the man blushed and laughed. " You used to tako hor a flower every time you wont to see her. didn't yon .' " pur. sued the inquisitive, kindly old florist. " Yos." " And thoy didn't cost very much, as a rule, did they? " " Oh, no, but that didn't make any difference to her. If I brought them, fresh and flagrant, that was enough." '• Why don't you take them to he now ? Did she chooso another iv your stead?'' and *.ho florist's voioo was sympathetic " Oh, no, I married her a yoar ago." Tho florist waited a momont as if thinking. "And don't yon lovo her now?" he asked cautiously, as if troadiiur on thin ice. "Of course. We aro vary happy. But you know the liower business doesn't go any moro." " Did sho ever say ao ?" asked tho florist. " Well — vm — or— no. I can't say thatsho ever did." " Have you ovor asked her about it?'" "No. I never happened to think of it Buay, you know, with all Borts of things, no much more prant.ical." Tha florist didn't answer. He went to a pot of rosea And violets, and taking a handful, ho handed them over to his lata customer. " '1 hero," ho said, " I givo them to you in aetnombranoo ot* old times. You niiirht tako them to your wifo, nnd if she doesn't liko thorn you can bring them back to me." But thoy never came back. — "Press."
