DANEVIRKE ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting was held on Saturday, at 4 p.m. Present— Messrs Cowper (chairman), McDermotr, M. Henderson, and W. F. Knight. Correspondence was read from Mr C. Neilsen, lessee of Sec. 34, B. XIII, Umutaoroa, asking Board to make a sledge track to his section, so as to enable him to get fencing materials upon the land. — The Engineer stated that the cost would be about .£SO, and it was resolved to let the matter stand over for the present. From Kumeroa Road Board, again requesting the Board to maintain Gilmour's cutting, and promising to find totara for bridge, etc., in the Mangatoro Valley, free of royalty. — Engineer stated that the cost of maintaining Gilmour's cutting would be ahout ill yearly.— Resolved upon the motion of Messrs McDermott and Henderson that the Engineer be
authorised to arrange with the Kumeroa .Road Board or their sur-face-man about maintaining ths road in question., TENDERS. The following tenders were received :— * Contract C, re-metalling about 2 miles f>3 chain?, Unmtaoroa main road.— P. Scally, 253 10s ;R. Warner, £270 193 lOd ; J. H. Anderson, £363 2s. Mr Scally's tender was accepted. Contract 7, 18£ chains formation Tahoraite No. 1 road :— L. Phillips, £37; M. Tansey, £41 Is 3d; W. Morris, £41 14s. Resolved that the tenders be declined as too high, and the matter be left- over for the present. Contract 8, 147$ chains re-forming and metalling Kaitoke-Otope road : —P. Scally, £2 7a 6d per chain, £350 18s Id ; J. K. Anderson, £2 19s per chain, £435 17s 3d. Mr Scalley's tender was accepted. Contract f), bridge, Mangatoro Valley : —M. Tansey, £76 15s (accepted). Contract 10, bridge over Papahau creek, Kaitoke-Otope road :— M. Tansey, £56; W. Morris, £60. The tenders were considered too high, and the matter was left over till next meeting. Contract 11, 51 chains formation Mangatoro Valley : — J. H. Anderson, £247 ;M. Tansey, 2s 3d. Mr Anderson's tender was accepted. Mr Knight mentioned that he had obtained a grant of £100 towards the Oringi-Matahiwi road, and moved that plans be laid before the Board at ics next meeting for work to the amount of £250 on that road. Seconded by Mr Henderson anl carried. Mr Knight moved the motion of which he had given notice at last meeting as follows : That the Waipa wa County Council's regulations with regard to width of tires be brought into force in the whole district from April 1, 1893. Mr Henderson seconded the motion. As an amendment Mr McDermott moved that no tires by-law be adopted. There was no seconder, and the motion was put and carried. Mr Henderson moved, and the Chairman seconded, that Mr Knight be requested at the next County Council meeting to ask Council's permission to bring tires by-law into force in this Road district. — Carried. The Board then adjourned.
