FIRES AT MILL

SEQUEL IN COURT CHARGES AGAINST BOY O.C. WHANGAREI, this day. A lad appeared in the Rawene Children's Court before Mr. W. C. Harley, S.M., on charges arising out of the series of fires which occurred at the Morningside Timber Company s mill at Omahuta in October and November. Pleading not guilty, he v/as remanded to appear at a magistrate's sitting in Whangarei on Monday. The charges related to the alleged act of arson or wilfully setting fire to Peterson's store at the mill settlement on October 5, to the mill itself on November 11 and tr* the mill garage on November 19. The company has decided against rebuilding and the settlement of 126 people will vanish.
