SEAFARERS' SERVICE
DAY OP REMEMBRANCE The annual seafarers' service will be held at St. Matthew's Church at 11 a.m. on Sunday, which will be observed as a day of thankful remembrance for seamen. Representatives of the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Merchant Navy, the Harbour Board, shipping companies and various other bodies connected with ships and seafarers will be present. The sermon will be preached by the Rev. E. Blackwood Moore, formerly chaplain with the New Zealand Forces in North Africa, and the Bishop of Auckland, the Right. Rev. W. J. Simkin, will bless the flags. The lesson will be read by Commodore W. K. D. Dowding, R.N., naval officer in charge at Auckland. At the Mariners' Chapei, Flying Angel Missions to Seamen, a memorial in honour of seamen who lost their lives in World War 11. will be unveiled and dedicated in the evening.
