PENSIONERS' EARNINGS

The Labour Government has done much to help the poor and those in difficult circumstances. It could still do more without paying out public money. I refer to the law that prevents a war pensioner letting his spare rooms in his rented house unless he forgoes part of his pension. I am a widowed age pensioner urgently in need of rooms. I know a veteran of the last war and his wife. They would allow me the use of vacant rooms in their house but for this restraining regulation. They say they would have trouble in getting their full pension restored if the necessity arose. Can it make any difference to the Pension Department if a pensioner does sublet? My friend is quite unable to earn anything by working. PENSIONER.
