DOMAIN MEETING
AMATEURS' CARNIVAL C. E. MASTERS' APPEARANCE A good attendance of spectators witnessed keen competition at the Domain yesterday afternoon when the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its Labour Day meeting. Among competitors was C. E. Masters, winner of the inter-Allied 100 yards championship for the New ealand oFrces in Italy, who was making his first competition appearance in New Zealand since his return home. Although he did not show in the placings he ran well, recording 10 2-5s in tho 100 yards against the wind, and conceding big handicaps. The results were:— 200 ards Ladies' Handicap.—Miss S. Kerr, 1; Miss J. Hume 2, Miss R. Dawman 3. Time, 11 4-ss. Ladies' Shot Putt Handicap.—Miss P. Bell 1, Miss K. Elshaw 2. Harry Holland Memorial Steeplechase, two miles and a half.—K. B. Evans, 180s, 1; G. C. Macrae, 100s, 2; C. J. Appleton, 30s, 3. Won by ten yards with a yard between second and third. Time, 5.16. 880 Yards Senior Handicap.—G. M. Card well, scr, 1; F. O'Sullivan, 85yds, 2; M. S. Opperman, 40yds, 3. Cardwell, who recently returned from overseas, where he had a victory over V. P.
