SUPPLY OF BISCUITS

CANCELLATION OF CONTRACTS EFFECT OX HOME MARKET Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, this day. All British contracts for the supply of biscuits by New Zealand manufacturers have now been cancelled, and the position as it will affect the provision of biscuits for the Dominion home market is now under consideration by the Government.

During the war large quantities of biscuits were exported from New Zealand to the order of the British Government. If that quantity could now be diverted to the New Zealand market considerable supplies would become available, but ' difficulties relating to the sugar position enter into the question. The matter of the sugar quota for biscuit manufacturers was discussed by Government representatives with members of the industry his week. That quota question is now being considered by the Government and an announcement will probably be made shortly.
