CHANGES IN MEDITERRANEAN

LONDON, Oct. 11
Lieutenant-General W. D. Morgan, formerly Field-Marshal Alexander's Chief of Staff, has been appointed Supreme Allied Commander in the Mediterranean, succeeding FieldMarshal Alexander and General
Joseph McNarney, who was in temporary command after the departure of Field-Marshal Alexander. Lieu-tenant-General M. B. Ridgway, who is succeeding General McNarney in command of the United States Army forces in Italy, will be DeputySupreme Allied Commander. General McNarney has been ordered to Washington for a new assignment.
