SAMOAN CHIEFS

ATTENDANCE AT CHURCHES One of' the three Samoan high chiefs at present visiting New Zealand, the Hon. Tamasese, attended solemn High Mass in St. Patrick's Cathedral yesterday morning. He was accompanied by his wife. Both visitors were met at the rioor by the administrator, Rev. Father A Curran, who conducted them to prie-dieux before the high altar. Before the sermon, Father Curran welcomed High Chief Tamasese and his wife to Auckland, in the name of Bishop Liston.

The other two chiefs, the Hon. Mata'afa and Malietoa, and their wives, attended a special service held last night at the Beresford Street • Congregational Church. Natives from the islands of Samoa, Cook, Niue and Nauru, were present and sang hymns in their own languages as well as in English. The service was conducted by Tariu Orometua, the pastor for the Cook Islands.
