Sydney is to be the centre for the launching of the Nuffield project to manufacture motor cars in Australia through Nuffield (Aust.). Fty., Ltd.. which has a capital of £1.000.000 subscribed In Great Britain. The company will be a. subsidiary of Morris Motors. Ltd. of England. Investigations showed that transport costs would be lower at Sydney than elsewhere in the Commonwealth and the site was chosen accordingly. Several other well-known Arms have decided also to manufacture cars in Australia. Among them is the General Motors-Holdcn firm, which aims at producing an Australian car within two years, and hopes to sell 25,000 cars a year.
