FOR WOMEN "LOVED ENGLAND"

MRS. JORDAN BACK LOOKED FORWARD TO VISIT "I have looked forward to this visit home to New Zealand for several years," said Mrs. W. J. Jordan this morning. "I am simply delighted to be back, but I must say that I loved England." Mrs. Jordan agreed that, like other New Zealanders, she missed New Zealand's sunshine, but England, she said, had a lot of other things that made up for it; there were hosts of compensations. As wife of the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, Mrs. Jordan thoroughly enjoyed the work, and the contacts she made with the many New Zealanders who live in London. They were, she said, a very happy band. Mrs. Jordan was full of praise for the women of Britain through the strenuous war years. In spite of rationing and all other hardships, they had been wonderful in the way they opened their homes to servicemen from, overseas. All through the war the women of-Britain had been closely linked in all their war activities. They had worked shoulder to shoulder and played their part nobty.

Mr. and Mrs. Jordan sailed from London to New York where they arrived for the VJ day celebrations, which Mrs. Jordan described as "wonderful and exciting." "My only regret is that my son and daughter are not with us on this trip," said Mrs. Jordon: "Bill is still in the Royal Air Force, and Gwen is medical officer on a station out of London." Mrs. Jordon said she was looking forward to meeting old friends and seeing familiar places. Having arrived only a few hours ago she had not yet had an opportunity of even looking around.
