PERSONAL

Mr. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left for Wellington yesterday. Dr. C. S. Lang, of London, arrived yesterday afternoon in Auckland from San Francisco. He will tour New Zealand as examiner for the Royai Schools of Music. Mr. E. H. W. Kenny, manager of the Cambridge branch of the Bank of New South Wales, is to retire in December after 40 years' service. The Rev. J. D. Smith, of Mount Eden, has been nominated as Mod-erator-designate of the Presbyterian Assembly by the Waikato Presbytery.
