CRICKET MEMORIAL

PAVILION BUILDING FUND N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent. Rec. 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 10. As a result of a match with the New Zealand team, the sum of f 3000 required for a memorial pavilion by the East Mosley Cricket Club will be easily secured. Cricket has been played on the clubs ground, Mosley Hurst, for 200 years, and the new pavilion will be a memorial to Players who fell during the war. including Frederick Smith, of the N.Z.E.*. New Zealand won the match, pleasant Sunday cricket, by %ve wickets. East Moslev scoring 104 and New Zealand 160 for eight wickets. F. T. Badcock deserted the New Zealanders for once and played against them, taking the club's score past the centurv in a last-wicket stand and notching 15. A. ?. Roberts, from Auckland, took six wickets for 50. C. b. Dempster was the mainstay of New Zea--13 The Trim! Minister of New Zealand, Mr Fraser, and Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C.. sent - messages wishing the club every success. The guests included Field-Marshal Lord Birdwood and Mr. G. Isaacs, British Minister of Labour. A crowd of some 3000 watched the match, Including many New Zealanders representing all the Services.
