Total Of 252,885 Killed In Action 651,218 MEN WOUNDED Rec. 11. WASHINGTON, Sept. 4. The United States war losses in Europe and tile Pacific are: 252,885 killed- 651,218 wounded; 43,969 missing: 122,747 taken prisoner. The war has cost 287,181,000,000 dollars, and 10,300,000 persons have been employed in the munitions industry alone. . A Labour Day, Americas first peacetime holiday, brought death to 341 persons. Motor accidcnts killed 198 the greatest number since the introduction of petrol rationing, which was lifted after Japan s capitulation There were 55 drownings and 88 deaths from miscellaneous causes.
