STEVENS' CHANCE

N.Z. MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE Cliff Hanham will defend his New Zealand professional middle-weight boxing title against the Aucklander, Roy Stevens, in a bout at Timaru on September 24. Hanham has alrerjjcly had one middle-weight title bout this season, ih a drawn bout with Vic Caltaux, while he recently retained his Dominion light-heavy-weight title by defeating Doug. Rollinson.

The Auckland provincial amateur boxing championships will be held on September 24, 25 and 2G, following the approval of these days last evening by the executive of the Auckland Boxing Association. The Mount Albert Grammar School championships will be decided on October 2 and 3, and those of King's College on October 5 and G.

The executive forwarded to the New Zealand Association for favourable consideration an application by P. E. McCarthy for a trainer's license.

The president, Mr. R. L. Farrell, was appointed Auckland delegate to the New Zealand conference in Wellington next month.

The secretary of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society wrote thanking the Association for the allotment of generous accommodation to sick and wounded servicemen at Town Hall boxing carnivals.
