MB. WILLIAM S. HORNE
Prominent electrical engineer and assistant-engineer of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. William Stanley Home, of 10, Michael's Avenue, Ellerslie, has died at the age of 51. Born in London in 1894, Mr. Home came to New Zealand with his parents in 1903, and was educated at the Clevedon School, the Seddon Memorial Technical College and the Auckland University College. He was an associate member of the Auckland School of Engineers, the New Zealand Institute of Engineers and the Institute of Transport, London. He Was for a period chairman of the Auckland branch of the Institute of Engineers and of its electrical
section. In 1941 he was awarded the Centennial Medal for a paper on electrical traction.
In the Firsf World War Mr. Home served with the New Zealand Artillery, and during World War 11. he was an officer in the 4th Works Company and later in the Engineer Service Corps. He was a member of the E.P.S. Transport Group. A keen skier, he was a past secretary and recently vice-president of the Ruapehu Ski Club. At the time of his death he was master of Lodge Orakel. He is survived by his wife and three children.
